Some of the Illustrations for the book ‘Il Tempo dei Giudicati’, ‘The Time of Judikes‘, the first book interely illustrated by me. Each of those drawings required research, investigation and joint work with archaeologists and historians. The book is a choral work, and an important chapter of historic research and public disclosure for Sardinian history.

Spaccato of the Basilica of Saint Gaudenzio, for the magazine Bell’Italia. The church was erected in the late renaissance – manierist style. It is distinguished for its impressive neoclassic dome, designed by the genious architect Antonelli in the XIX century. It is 120 meters tall, and its unique structural material are baked bricks.

3D Reconstruction of megalithic settlements in Sardinia

March 29, 2022 / Comments Off on 3D Reconstruction of megalithic settlements in Sardinia

3D Reconstruction developed in Unreal Engine 4, where all assets and objects were modeled and textured by myself, after the scientific research of the team Nurway of the University of Sassari.

3D Reconstruction of Aosta’s Roman forum

March 29, 2022 / Comments Off on 3D Reconstruction of Aosta’s Roman forum

The reconstruction was commissioned by the video game industry Digital Tales, and developed after the careful consideration of Francesco Corni‘s graphic illustration of the forum in republican age. The forum, according to roman tradition, was the main monumental piazza of all roman founded settlements. The other building is a Paleocristian church, built in the late centuries of the empire. The reconstructions were developed on Maya, and textured on Blender, in order to be visible from smartphone or oculus. Materials and constructive details are tuned with the building traditions of that age.

Gabriele knows how to read architecture and knows how to tell it. He uses drawing to enter spaces; color, shadows and details to convey emotions. The viewer has the impression of being on the spot.

Gabriele Pettinau's works are rigorous and engaging: they return with scrupulous precision architectural spaces and volumes, decorative and structural details, inviting gracefully the eye to discover through a warm style, rich in soft shades.
